Its been two years since posting. So much has changed. I've learned about forgiveness. I've tasted acceptance. I've been inspired and offered inspiration back. It seems as though life has taken on a whole new meaning, with a six year old and a ten year old, a marriage that is blossoming and breaking open (not always easily) to reveal new and tender, fragrant petals. These past months since winter time I've been working on a Kundalini Yoga kriya that has offered so much strength, transformation, balance, and questioning. I believe it has racheted my life and very existence into full gear and I would love to share it with you. It's a pranayam and mudra exercise (or, in other words, a reeeally full breath and a way to hold the hands specifically), that was called by Yogi Bhajan the Burn Inner Anger kriya. Hold onto your pants if you're gonna attempt it. Or your head. Or heart. Or something. And then do it every day for 40 days without skipping a day. If you miss a day, go back to day one and start over. To do this, sit in an easy cross legged position on the floor, or with a straight back in a chair. Place your left hand over your heart. Take your right hand up to 60 degrees in front of you. Extend your first two fingers. Put the thumb over the ring and pinky fingers. Close your eyes and begin to breath through a "O" in the mouth - inhaling about 2 seconds, exhaling about 2 seconds. Continue for 11 minutes. When you're finished, raise your hands both up straight into the air and hold the breath in for 10-15 seconds. Exhale through the mouth. Repeat this sequence two more times. Then relax.
This kriya was brought to me by my dear friend Harpal Kaur when she noticed it would be a part of Spirit Voyage's 40 Day Global Sadhana Challenge (you can find all of the 40-day Sadhana practices on http://www.spiritvoyage.com/blog/index.com/category/meditation/40-day-global-sadhana-challenges/) There is another beautiful Sadhana challenge upcoming to usher in the Aquarian Age and the sacred date of November 11, 2011 (11-11-11) which was personally chosen by iconic Kundalini Yoga teachers Snatam Kaur and Gurmukh. It officially begins on October 3, 2011 and for instructions and a video, go to the above link. This upcoming Global Sadhana Challenge will be for tapping into your own highest wisdom - and the grace and purity of the universe. We will be doing this practice with our local Sangha in Bar Harbor, Maine, and ending with a 40-day celebration night on 11-11-11 by doing the kriya together along with 2.5 hours of Long Ek Ong Kar chanting and lots of blissful rest to the sound of the sacred gong! If you wish to join us, please send me an email at siri.temple@gmail.com and I will be sure to keep you informed & updated as we proceed.
